Interaction Designer, Toy Lab

Find joy in making the complex simple? Skilled at creating simple interfaces and intuitive flows, taking into account everything from overall architecture to detailed design? Love the entire process from concept development through prototyping and final delivery?

This position will be based in the Toy Lab, but will also include involvement in the larger IDEO community on projects that span a variety of industries. The Toy Lab is a team within IDEO (www.ideo.com) dedicated to creating the best new toys and mobile experiences, including popular apps Balloonimals, Elmo Calls, and Spark Camera, recently selected by Apple for inclusion in the App Store Best of 2013. To continue delivering the most innovative and delightful products, we’re looking to add a talented interaction designer to our team. While we’ll depend on you to drive architecture, flow and interaction design, we’re also highly collaborative and value your contributions to overall concept development and game play. You’ll also engage in user research, learning from potential users and incorporating feedback into your designs.

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

Demonstrated human-centered, insights-driven design approach Skilled at information architecture, taking complex information and presenting it in a orderly fashion Ability to convey concepts through wireframes, flows and mockups Fluent in on and off-screen prototyping tools, such as Photoshop and Illustrator Interest in designing toys and experiences for kids Good communication and collaboration skills Ability to learn new tools and do self-guided work within a fast-paced environment Motivation, initiative, high energy and attention to detail

Additional skills that would be desirable:

Rapid prototyping (animations with AfterEffects, click-throughs with Keynote, interactive prototypes with Flintos, etc.) Coding (JavaScript/CSS/HTML, Objective-C, etc.) Web and/or mobile software experience Background in gaming/game mechanics
